Shawn Mwenje

Chief Editor

Shawn Mwenje is a passionate creative and graduate of Architecture at Cambridge University (BArch) under the Beacon Leadership Scholarship. He has explored his creativity most extensively through art and design while continuously honing his voice through extensive engagement with geopolitical platforms. He channels this creative enthusiasm into his editorial role at JEPA.

Shawn’s ultimate goal of enhancing the role that design plays in empowering communities has been explored through his experiences at four design firms. Notably, he led the graphic campaign for the commemorative anniversary event, the Boogertman at 10 Open Studio, at Africa's top-ranked architectural firm. While there, he also successfully took a multi-unit residential project from its ideation to eventual approval and groundbreaking in two months. Following that, he led the interior design for the launch of London’s very first roboticised restaurant, Common Room, as he completed illustrations and designed merchandise to convey its unique ethos and endear customers to the brand alongside a lovable mascot.

Shawn also runs an art business, Chezachora, selling original artworks, prints, and merchandise. He has been published twice as a cover illustrator - notably, in the humanitarian journal, "Allons-y: Journal for Children, Peace and Security" (2022). In the pursuit of these projects, Shawn aims to hone his abilities as he ventures to advance the pan-African platform on the global stage.
