Amwene Etiang

Amwene Etiang holds a first-class degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of Bristol where she was also a recipient of the Beacon Scholarship. Her main sectors of interest are climate, energy and culture - spanning music, entertainment, and sports. In her final year at the University of Bristol, she wrote a first class dissertation titled “Another Story” About Africa: How to Ensure Corporate Respect for Human Rights on the Continent Using Human Rights Due Diligence.’
Amwene is currently a research intern at Enzi Ijayo, a Pan-African think-and-do tank with a focus on green energy. As a research intern, she writes pieces on issues of climate action, climate diplomacy and energy affecting the continent. In addition, she provides research support to the fellows on climate and energy policy.
Amwene also volunteers as a member of the Board of Trustees for Tennis For All Uganda, an organisation that uses tennis to empower young people in Uganda and provides scholarships and vocational training. Throughout her undergraduate degree she was a member of the University of Bristol Advanced A Women’s Tennis Team. She has also previously been a contributing writer for the Student Lawyer in their Hot Topics team, writing mostly about the business of sports.
