Alinda Mutabazi is a committed Law (LLB) student at the University of Nottingham. As the President and Founder of the Women Leaders of Afrika Society (WOLA), Alinda spearheads initiatives to empower African women to assume positions of influence, fostering development across the continent through community-driven engagements.
In her first year of university, Alinda presented her high school publication Increasing Economic Development in Uganda (2022) at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research. Her research juxtaposed pre-industrial Singapore’s transformation into an economic powerhouse with present-day Uganda, highlighting how strategic government policies can drive national economic growth.
During her tenure as a Research Assistant for the Mastercard Foundation’s Gender-Based Analysis Plus initiative, Alinda collected and analysed data on the legal, socio-economic, and political barriers to young people’s participation in Uganda’s economy. She offered critical insights into how intersecting identities affect access to resources and contributed to evidence-based recommendations on youth economic empowerment.
Alinda’s passion for advancing African women’s rights is further demonstrated through her work with organisations such as the Ugandan Association of Female Lawyers (FIDA-U), which provides free legal services to empower women, and The Remnant Generation, an initiative focused on rehabilitating survivors of gender-based violence.
