Makena Mugo is an eager learner pursuing an Actuarial Science degree (BBS) at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya. Her dedication to academic excellence is evident in her performance, having topped the Dean’s List in her first year. With a strong foundation in mathematics and financial analysis, she is excited to leverage her skills to drive sustainable development in East Africa.

An experienced writer and the published author of ‘What’s Even the Point?’ a fiction book for young teenagers, Makena brings a creative perspective to both writing and problem-solving. Her leadership experience includes serving on the student council and as an EP Manager in AIESEC at Strathmore University, where she has honed her organisational and team management skills. Further showcasing her commitment to community, she co-founded Sisi Sasa, an initiative dedicated to mitigating the consequences of period poverty in underserved areas in Nairobi.

Makena enjoys continuous learning beyond her academic and professional pursuits, particularly exploring topics in philosophy, politics and economics to deepen her understanding of global systems and their impacts on Africa and society in general.
