Jadyn Ligoo

Jadyn Hera Ligoo is a final-year student at Brown University studying International and Public Affairs, specialising in Development as a Davis United World College Scholar. She is an interdisciplinary scholar with research experience in anthropological demography and social geography with professional experience in advocacy, mixed-methods research and teaching spanning Kenya, Hong Kong, England and the US. Her research has been funded through competitive Undergraduate Teaching & Research Awards from Brown University.
She currently holds a Writing Fellow position at the Brown University Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning where she collaboratively works with undergraduate students to refine their written communication using inclusive approaches to peer tutoring. As co-head of the ‘Essays & Interviews’ section of the Brown Journal of World Affairs, she has honed analytical and project management skills. For her commitment to equitable community partnerships, Jadyn was awarded a Bonner Community Fellowship through which she works as a technology education fellow at the Providence Public Library supporting digital literacy programming for immigrants in Rhode Island.
Beyond her studies, she has also served as the political action and community outreach coordinator for the Brown University African Students’ Association. Through her experiences living, studying and working in multicultural contexts across the Global North and South, Jadyn has nurtured a passion and interest in work addressing urban poverty, economic exclusion and violence with the goal of realising a sustainable and prosperous future for Africans.
