Collins Mgomella

Collins Mgomella is a driven scholar pursuing a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Surrey, supported by the prestigious Beacon Scholarships for Schools (2018) and University (2022). Excelling academically, Collins has leveraged his education to engage in impactful research, including a placement year as a Clinical Trial Assistant at the Surrey Clinical Research Facility, maintaining a database for trials on schizophrenia and circadian rhythms.

Professionally, Collins has demonstrated versatility through a placement as an IT Technician at the US Embassy in Dar es Salaam, where he honed technical and problem-solving skills in a high-stakes environment. These experiences underscore his adaptability and commitment to excellence in diverse fields. 

Outside academia, Collins is deeply involved in community and cultural initiatives. As a committee member of the African Caribbean Society, he played a pivotal role in organising a Black Tech event for aspiring entrepreneurs. A Course Representative and BioSoc member, he has fostered collaboration through study groups. 

An accomplished violinist, Collins performs with the University’s String Society and actively participates in physical and mental challenges through frisbee, gym routines, chess, and mahjong. As a Student Ambassador and Surrey Volunteer, Collins embodies leadership and a commitment to fostering inclusivity and growth within their community.
